Music: “Running on Fumes” by King Creosote and Jon Hopkins
“Running On Fumes” is an investigation into dance as confession—one that is stumbling, imperfect, yet earnest- all unfolding from a place of tactility. Using contact and variations on central movement phrases, the dancers make physical the stifling and suffocating urge toward verbal self-revision, desiring to create a secret world with one another. This piece navigates the beauty of intimacy as well as insularity. This piece is also about experiencing queer love and destiny, featuring gender-neutral partnering and references to the concept of the red thread of fate, wherein soulmates are tied by their thumbs to the other’s pinky fingers.
